MK Dov Henin (Hadash) on Monday called for a halt to harmful factory plants operating without a Fire Service permit in the Haifa Bay and Ramat Hovav.

"In the absence of a fire permit, the harmful plants have the potential to be the cause for the next disaster," Henin said at a meeting of the Knesset's Internal Affairs and Environment Committee. "We can spare the next official investigative committee if, instead of arguing over the official authorities, the government ministries would unite with the involved local authorities to stop the operation of the dangerous plants until they will be approved by the Fire Service as required by law."

Henin added that the reorganization of the Fire Service is urgent and essential.
