Members of Knesset from all factions were preparing a letter to US President Barack Obama requesting clemency for Jonathan Pollard, Army Radio reported on Monday. The MKs planned to ask Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to pass the letter through US Vice President Joe Biden when they meet next week in the US.

In their appeal to Netanyahu, the MKs noted that Biden himself demanded Pollard's release a few years ago, according to the report. They said that, "Given recent revelations, there is no doubt that Biden would agree with the idea that keeping Pollard in jail is not rational and not fitting for a democratic state."
