Maj.-Gen. Eyal Eisenberg on Wednesday replaced Maj.-Gen. Yair Golan as head of the IDF Home Front Command in a ceremony overseen by IDF chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen Benny Gantz at Home Front Command headquarters in Ramle.

Golan was expected to be appointed to head the Northern Command following three-and-a-half years as head of the Home Front Command.

Gantz said at the ceremony that "this is a particularly sensitive period in which the IDF, firmly standing watch, must do all it can to ensure Israel will serve as an island of security, even as revolutions take place all around. In this reality, the Home Front Command's mission becomes even more complicated."
