A 27-year-old man brutally exploited a mentally impaired couple in Haifa for six months, police revealed on Monday. According to suspicions, Alon Bar Shishat subjected the man, 36, and his wife, 27, to severe emotional and physical abuse, robbing them of their money, including their national insurance, and imprisoning them in their own home. Bar Shishat even allegedly allowed the female victim to starve while allowing the male victim to eat. The couple never complained, and the abuse finally ended when the father of one of the victims filed a complaint with the police. Bar Shishat is charged with holding the couple against their will, blackmail and threats of violence. An indictment will be served in the next few days.
