Philippine police may punish police officers for publishing photos on the social networking site Facebook from last week's deadly hijacking of a bus full of Hong Kong tourists in Manila, AFP reported on Monday.

The officers responsible for posting the photos on the web violated a police rule on proper decorum and may be demoted after an investigation into their conduct, a Manila district police chief told AFP.

Eight hostages and the hijacker, a former police officer, were killed during a standoff when police surrounded the commandeered bus.
