Merkel says Muslim youth violence is a national problem

Statistics show that Muslim youths in Germany are more likely to commit violent acts than the rest of the country's population, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in an interview with a German newspaper on Sunday.
Deutsche Welle reported that the chancellor referred to the issue in light of the controversy surrounding Bundeskbank board member Thilo Sarrazin, who faces dismissal from his position following 'racist' comments he made earlier this week.
The chancellor pointed out that the pertinent issue was education, saying that often the violence committed by young people is the result of a lack of hope in their futures.
