Millions of Shi'ite Muslims are heading to the city of Karbala in Iraq on Wednesday to commemorate the holy day of Arba'een ("the fortieth [day]") in one of the largest pilgrimage gatherings on Earth, in which over 10 million Muslims commemorate the martyrdom of Hussein bin Ali.

According to Iranian news channel Press TV, Iraqi authorities have heightened security measures to secure the roads for the pilgrims.
