Opposition leader Shaul Mofaz said on Saturday night that the political echelon must "allow the IDF to act powerfully whenever necessary," Israel Radio reported.

Commenting in response to over thirty rockets fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel on Saturday, Mofaz stated that politicians "must allow the IDF to act powerfully whenever necessary. Hesitation on behalf of Israel will be answered by acts of terrorism," Israel Radio reported.

"The heads of the terrorist organizations should be a primary and immediate target," Israel Radio quoted Mofaz as saying.

Mofaz added: "Israel's security comes before any election."
