Motorist killed following head-on collision on highway 70

A 70-year-old woman was killed during a head-on collision Thursday evening on highway 70 near the northern town of Sheikh Danun, according to an MDA spokesperson.

A 50-year-old woman was also injured in the incident, sustaining light wounds. "We saw two vehicles crushed after a frontal collision," the MDA spokesperson said.

"In one vehicle we noticed a female driver in her chain who appeared to be unconscious. We attempted to administer life saving treatment while extracting her from the vehicle," the spokesperson continued, adding "unfortunately she gave no signs of life and we pronounced her dead on the scene."

The spokesperson noted that they treated a 50-year-old woman in the other vehicle for light injuries and evacuated her to a nearby hospital.
