Mubarak to Ovadia Yosef: 'I am in good condition.'

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak sent on Monday a letter to Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef thanking him for his concern over the Egyptian leader's health and assuring him that he was in good shape, “despite what some Israeli media bodies published.”
The warmly worded communique was in response to a letter the foremost Sepharadic religious authority had sent Mubarak via Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu last week following reports on Mubarak's fragile health.
Mubarak, who met with Yosef in the past, showered praise and honor upon the senior rabbi and noted his contribution in promoting peace. Beyond the personal significance of the exchange between the men, the letter is also another way for Mubarak to stress his good condition. “My recuperation period is over,” Mubarak wrote of his recent medical treatments in Europe, “and I am in good condition.”
