Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held by phone on Saturday night a situation assessment concerning the current closure of the Temple Mount following Friday's lethal attack which resulted in the death of two Israeli police officers.
The premier decided to gradually open the holy site of prayer to visitors, tourists and worshipers starting Sunday noon. According to the Prime Minister's Office, it was also decided to introduce new security measures to the area: metal detectors and cameras will be erected outside the site to overlook the Mount at all times.
Further security measures will be introduced later on.
