Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to recall for consultation Israel's ambassador to UNESCO, Carmel Shama-Hachone in protest of Wednesday's vote by the United Nations agency's World Heritage Committee in favor for a motion that denies Jewish ties to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

The 21-member body passed the resolution earlier Wednesday with 10 nations in favor, two in opposition and eight that abstained from the vote.
