Netanyahu to meet with Likud MK Carmel Shama on Monday

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will meet on Monday with Likud MK Carmel Shama, who has been designated by the party to take over the chairmanship of the Knesset Economics Commitee on November 3.
Likud MK Ophir Akunis, a former Netanyahu aide who currently chairs the committee, wants to keep the job, but Shama said Sunday that he would insist on the committee chairmanship, even if he was offered to be a deputy minister.
Another factor is that a verdict is to be given on November 2 in the case of Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Commitee chairman Tzahi Hanegbi. If his perjury conviction is deemed to have included moral turpitude, his committee will return to Likud and the Knesset Economics Committee will return to Kadima.
