Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was scheduled to meet with police commanders in the central city of Lod on Thursday to discuss what measures will be taken to protect the city's residence, Israel Radio reported on Wednesday.

Dozens of border police were dispatched to Lod on Wednesday in response to a recent uptick in shootings in the past week. The Shin Bet was also said to be participating in the drive to clear the city of illegal weapons and protect its residents.
