New Jersey's Christie says he won't run for president

TRENTON, New Jersey - New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said on Tuesday he will not run for president in 2012, ending weeks of feverish speculation he might shake up a wide-open Republican race with a dramatic late entrance.
Christie's decision will likely benefit former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney because they would have competed for the same middle-of-the-road voters. Romney leads the Republican field by a large margin in the state that holds the first Republican primary, New Hampshire, which might have been a factor into Christie's deliberations.
