New bill offers compensation to travelers for flight delays

The Knesset Economic Committee issued a bill requesting that travelers who experience delays of two to five hours are entitled to compensation in the form of food and beverage, two telephone calls, and free fax or email service, Israel Radio reported Thursday.
A traveler who is delayed five to eight hours will be treated as if the flight was canceled and will be eligible for reimbursement for the flight, to receive free accommodation, and paid transportation to the hotel from the airport.
The committee is preparing the bill for a second and third reading in the Knesset.
