Noam Schalit: Israel has failed in negotiations with Hamas

Noam Schalit, father of captured soldier Gilad Schalit, commented on the suspension of the proposed transfer of Palestinian bodies to Hamas in an interview with Army Radio Tuesday.

Schalit said that "so far Israel has failed in negotiations with Hamas and has been unable to obtain leverage over them. Not turning over the bodies will not pressure Hamas leaders in any significant way."

Schalit's comments come following Defense Minister Ehud Barak's decision on Monday to suspend all talks with the Palestinian Authority over the transfer of the bodies of 84 Palestinians.
