In his first response to the attempted car bomb attack that failed to explode in New York City's Times Square, US President Barack Obama promised that those responsible will be apprehended and punished, Army Radio reported Monday.

New York Police said there is no evidence linking the incident to the Taliban, despite the organization claiming responsibility for it, as the group has been known do so falsely in the past for attacks it had not perpetrated.
