Obama drops in on Barak-Jones meeting

US President Barack Obama on Monday unexpectedly dropped in on a Washington meeting between Defense Minister Ehud Barak and US National Security Adviser James Jones.

Israel Radio reported that Obama reassured Barak that he was fully committed to Israel's security.

Also Monday, Obama telephoned Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to update him on peace efforts in the wake of US Middle East envoy George Mitchell's recent trip to the region.
