PHR-Israel praises Knesset vote against NGO probe bills

Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) in Israel praised the Knesset's vote against two bills proposing to probe left-wing NGOs, saying "We welcome the fact that this saga is behind us for now."

"However, it is important to remember that the [rejected] initiative is just one of dozens threatening democracy and the rights of Israeli citizens," PHR said in a statement. "We call on MKs to express significant opposition to the cloudy wave passing over us. We will continue to make efforts so that human rights are respected and exercised and will become a key component of the State of Israel.
