"The prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, is in constant contact with the Schalit family, including this week and, together with the whole of Israel, shares the family's pain with every extra day that Gilad is held by Hamas."

This is part of a statement issued by the prime minister's office on Monday evening, following renewed efforts by the family to raise public concern over the fate of the imprisoned soldier, Gilad Schalit.
