A Jewish man was allegedly attacked and stabbed by a Palestinian hitchhiker on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

According to a police statement, the Jewish man was having repairs done on his car in the Palestinian village of al-Walaja near Bethlehem. When the man left the village he took a Palestinian hitchhiker with him. During the ride the hitchhiker allegedly attacked and stabbed the man in his hand.

The alleged attacker fled and the lightly injured Jewish man is in stable condition at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.
