Pentagon denies WikiLeaks talks about documents

WASHINGTON — The Defense Department is denying it had direct contact with WikiLeaks and says the US military is not interested in helping the website review classified war documents to post online.
Julian Assange is the website's founder. He told The Associated Press Wednesday that the Pentagon's lawyers are willing to help the self-styled whistleblower review a cache of about 15,000 leaked Afghan war reports for information that could harm civilians.
But Defense Department spokesman Bryan Whitman said there has been no such contact.
WikiLeaks has already posted almost 77,000 classified Afghan war reports. The Pentagon has demanded that WikiLeaks take the reports off its site, refrain from posting any more and return all of them.
