Permits to dump treated

Factories receiving government permission to dump treated sewage into streams must publish the details of their permits in a newspaper within a month of receiving authorization, according to new regulations effective Tuesday. The committee responsible for issuing permits adopted a suggestion advocated by the sea and streams watchdog group, Zalul. The group has advocated for the directive for two years. While permits are already posted in a database on the Environmental Protection Ministry's Web site, the new requirement aims to makes information more readily available to the public, Zalul said. The notice will have to be posted in both local and national publications and in accordance with a specific format.
