Qatar says it is ready to hold military drills with Iran

The chief of staff of Qatar's armed forces on Friday said his country is prepared to hold joint land and sea army drills with Iran in the Persian Gulf, PressTV reported citing Iranian news agency IRNA.
Major General Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah met with the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) commander of the fleet of Iranian military boats which were visiting Qatar on Friday, and praised Iranian-Qatari military cooperation and growing bilateral ties between the two countries, said PressTV.
During the meeting, Attiyah also said Doha is ready to improve ties with Teheran in military and defense matters, which include the transfer of experience, training and joint exercises in Persian Gulf waters.
Iran's IRGC Navy General Ali-Reza Nasseri commented, in return, on the geographical, religious and cultural commonalities between his country and Qatar, and stressed Teheran's efforts to boost bilateral relations.
“The Islamic Republic is fully prepared for the implementation of defense cooperation agreements, and hosting and dispatching military delegations,” he said.
