Rabbi: Join paratroopers brigade only after Haliva leaves

Deputy head of the Kibbutz Sha'alvim Yeshiva, Rabbi Aryeh Hendler, on Tuesday called for the yeshiva's students not to enlist in the Paratroopers Brigade until its commander Col. Aharon Haliva finishes his term, reported Israel Radio.
Hendler's comments came despite Haliva's apology for saying he hates the hesder yeshiva military track.
In a letter, Hendler writes, "Is everyone who serves in the paratroopers brigade forced to accept the value system of the commander?"
Hendler said that this process was not intended against the state, but rather that he and his supporters were following the path which would enable yeshiva students to serve in the army in a positive way.
