Rafi Barak appointed to key Foreign Ministry post

The Foreign Ministry announced the appointment Wednesday of Rafi Barak as the senior deputy director general, making him the second highest ranking diplomat in the ministry after Director General Yossi Gal. Barak, a veteran and well-respected diplomat, has served for the last two years as the deputy director general in charge of the Western European department. Previously he served as the number two at the embassy in Washington, and also as the charge d'affaires at Israel's embassy in Paris.
