Reality TV star Ran Sharig, who is a participant in the Mehubarim (Connected) program, was detained by police in north Tel Aviv on Monday following a complaint lodged against him by an anti-smoking pressure group in response to footage of him broadcast earlier this years showing Sharig smoking marijuana while driving.

At least one  press photographers had been tipped to the arrest and captured the arrest as it took place outside of the Keshet TV studio in Tel Aviv.

Sharig was taken to a local police station where he undertook a urine test, and released after two hours. Police will seek to revoke Sharig's license if it is proved that he drove under the influence of cannabis.
