Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas may reappoint current PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to head the interim government that will be established following the signing of the unity deal by Hamas and Fatah, according to a report by Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper on Sunday.
According to the report, Abbas believes that appointing Fayyad to lead the next government will send a positive message to the international community, particularly the United States and the European Union.
Abbas wants to project to the world that the future government will be committed to the same plan as the current PA government, which is legitimized by Western countries.
