Report: Abbas may seek to renew negotiations soon

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas may seek to resume indirect negotiations with Israel in the near future, various sources reported on Friday.

Reuters quoted top Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat as saying that Abbas was conducting ongoing “consultations and coordinations” with US and European officials on the issue of talks with Israel.

He stressed, however, that reports of talks resuming in the coming days were false.

An source in Jerusalem told Reuters that “there have been … messages from Western diplomats indicating that talks could restart.”
