Report: Erdogan says fire aid not sign of improving ties

Ankara's decision to dispatch firefighting aid to Israel was not a sign of improving relations with Jerusalem, Army Radio reported Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying during an interview with Turkish CNN on Sunday.

"We will not stand aside at a time when people are being killed and nature destroyed," explained Erdogan. "A day will come when we will turn the page [on diplomatic relations], but first Israel must apologize for the incidents of the Gaza flotilla and compensate [the families] of those killed," he was quoted as saying.
