Report: Five French soldiers killed in Afghanistan

PARIS - Five French soldiers were killed after a suicide attack in Afghanistan on Wednesday, and four others were seriously wounded, French President Nicolas Sarkozy's office said in a statement.
"The French soldiers were protecting a council meeting in the Tagab valley," the Elysee said. "A terrorist set off a bomb close to the soldiers wounding four other French soldiers seriously and three Afghan civilians."
The statement said one Afghan civilian was also killed in the attack.
