Report: France condemns escalation of Gaza violence

France condemned Saturday the rocket attacks by terrorists in the Gaza Strip on Israeli targets, calling for a return to calm, Army Radio reported.

France is concerned by the escalation of violence in Gaza and southern Israel, and expressed sympathy for civilian casualties, the French Foreign Ministry said in a written statement.

More than 100 rockets fired from Gaza landed in Israel over the weekend and 15 Palestinians were killed in attacks by the IAF on terrorist targets in the Strip in one of the sharpest escalations in violence since the late-summer of 2011.
