An Israeli court has extended the remand of a Hamas lawmaker by another six months, the Chinese Xinhua news agency reported Tuesday quoting a Hamas parliamentary bloc statement.

Nayef al-Rejoub, a Hamas official based in the West Bank, was arrested in December, and has not yet been indicted or charged, the bloc said.

Rejoub is among several Hamas lawmakers who have been arrested in the West Bank since 2006 following the group's kidnapping of IDF soldier Gilad Schalit.
