WELLINGTON - The King of Tonga George Tupou V has died in a Hong Kong hospital on Sunday, New Zealand's media reported.

Television New Zealand said the Tongan government has confirmed his death. It said his younger brother, Crown Prince Tupouto'a Lavaka, who is heir to the throne, was with him at the time.

Topou, 63, was sworn in as King in September 2006 following the death of his father, Taufa'ahau Tupou IV.
