Report: Konrad to continue to broker prisoner exchange

German mediator Gerhard Konrad is expected to continue his efforts to broker an exchange of Palestinian prisoners for the release of captured soldier Gilad Schalit, reported east Jerusalem newspaper Al Manar on Monday.

Konrad reportedly said he is interested in reaching a settlement by the end of the year and noted that "there are encouraging signs from Hamas."

The German mediator allegedly plans to speak with, and offer new ideas, to both sides.

The report has not been verified by officials.
