Labor MK Amir Peretz is expected to announce that he will run for Histadrut chair on Wednesday, Army Radio reported Tuesday.

Wednesday is the deadline to file for candidacy for the position to run Israel's organization of trade unions, and associates of Peretz told Army Radio that unless a preventative measure is taken against him Tuesday night, Peretz will announce his plans to run on Wednesday.

Peretz has already recruited close to 5,000 signatures for running in the race, according to the report.
