The Shin-Bet security service is angry at Finance Minister Yair Lapid for going to Paris two weeks ago without a bodyguard, The Jerusalem Post's sister publication Sof Hashavua reported Friday.
An official at the agency was quoted calling Lapid's behavior "irresponsible and childish." The report said Lapid was briefed about security procedures for ministers' travels abroad and reluctantly accepted the agency's requests, but then broke his promise and went to France with his wife Lihi but without the guard.
Shin-Bet officials expressed concern that Lapid could follow in the footsteps of the late tourism minister Rehavam Ze'evi, who also resisted security protection before he was murdered by Palestinian terrorists at his Jerusalem hotel.
