October 18, 2010 14:45

The annual rally in memory of former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin scheduled for the end of October at Rabin Square will be the last one held in its current format, according to the rally's organizing committee as reported by Israel Radio.

Niva Lanir, one of the organizers, said that it has been difficult to draw a crowd to the rally in recent years due to the prevailing sense of apathy among the public, and the committee wants to avoid a situation in which Rabin Square will not be full. Lanir said the idea to end the rally already surfaced five years ago, and it has not yet been decided what memorial event will be held in its place next year.
