Ahead of US President Donald Trump's possible recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in coming days, the US State Department has warned its embassies across the globe to implement heightened security measures, according to State Department officials quoted by Politico.

The Politico report said that the warning has been delivered via two classified cables amid fears that such an announcement will provoke fury and violence on the streets of the Arab world, with US embassies being a likely target of unrest.
