Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday described the implementation of the deal on Tehran's nuclear program as a big victory for Iranian politics and a turning point for the country's economic development.

Speaking at a press conference on the day after the European Union (EU) and the United States lifted their economic, financial and energy sanctions against Iranian nuclear iprogram, Rouhani said the day the deal came into effect marked a victory for Iranian diplomacy, and stressed that his country's nuclear program will never again be regarded as a threat to regional or world peace.

Rouhani also commented on the current tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

"We seek to rationally solve regional problems. But meanwhile, our government and people will never accept wrong and undiplomatic actions. If it is necessary, we will give a strong response. We hope the Saudi authorities can learn lessons from what has happened and take actions that benefit both its own and regional interests," said Rouhani.
