MOSCOW - Russia accused the United States of meddling in its affairs on Friday by criticizing a draft law that would tighten control of non-governmental organizations funded from abroad.

"We note that such comments cannot be seen as anything else but entirely inappropriate attempts at gross interference in the activities of the Russian state authorities," Russia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
