A 30-year-old man attempted to take his life by exploding a propane gas tank in an apartment in Hatikva neighborhood in south Tel Aviv Saturday morning.

The man blew up the tank as police arrived, injuring himself moderately and a police officer lightly.

Magen David Adom crews evacuated the man to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv as firefighters contained the resulting fire.
