Suspected pedophile feared to have contacted 1,000 children

Police lifted a gag order Monday detailing the arrest of 33-year-old Avinoam Braverman, of Tel Aviv, alleged to have contacted some 1,000 minors, engaging some in virtual sex in front of web cams and of raping, sodomizing and molesting others, as well as possession and distribution of child pornography, Israel Radio reported. Police are investigating whether he was in contact with other pedophiles.
Braverman is suspected of targeting children aged 8 through 15 by using social networks and chat forums associated with TV programs for children and convincing children to send him nude photographs over a period of years.
Investigators reported finding chat records with more than 1,000 children, children's underwear and dolls in his home.
The Rishon Lezion  District Court extended Braverman's remand on Monday.
Police are asking parents who fear their children may have been been abused by Braverman to call the Lahav 433 unit at 08-954-5389.
