Sweden halts deportation of Iraqis

STOCKHOLM  — Sweden has temporarily halted the deportations of about 30 Iraqi asylum-seekers after criticism from human rights groups.
The Iraqis were denied asylum in Sweden and were meant to fly back to their homeland early Wednesday.
But Sweden's Migration Board decided Tuesday to stop the flight after the Council of Europe, a human rights watchdog, said the deportations violated a decision by the European Court of Human Rights.
