GENEVA - Ambulances of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent evacuated three people from the embattled Homs district of Baba Amro on Monday, but were not able to evacuate foreign journalists there, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said.
"They have been able to evacuate three persons, including an aged woman, and a pregnant woman and her husband," ICRC spokesman Hicham Hassan told Reuters in Geneva. The trio were believed to be Syrian."Neither the foreign journalists nor the bodies of the (dead) journalists were evacuated for reasons we are not aware of due to the very tense security situation and difficult communications," he added.
One of seven severely injured Syrians evacuated by the two humanitarian agencies from Baba Amro on Friday night to Al Amin hospital in Homs has died, Hassan said. "The ICRC and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent went to visit six of them at hospital, one has succumbed to his wounds."
