BEIRUT - Two attacks were launched on Syrian security sites in Damascus on Friday, state television said, and a witness in the city told Reuters he heard two large explosions rock the capital.
State television said "terrorist attacks" were launched on two security buildings. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, citing another witness, said heavy gunfire broke out after the explosions.
The state news agency said initial investigations of the attack pointed to al Qaeda.
