TA: Car thief killed when officer's gun fires accidentally

An east Jerusalem man attempting to steal a vehicle in the North Tel Aviv neighborhood of Tzahala was shot and killed by a police officer early Tuesday morning.

The police contend that upon arriving on the scene, the suspect and three of his associates attacked them. During the struggle, one of the officer's weapon accidentally fired killing the suspect.

MDA paramedics arrived on the scene and attempted to revive the man before pronouncing him dead shortly afterward.

The officer that accidentally shot the suspect was arrested and brought in for investigation.
