The Taliban released a statement Friday responding to the death of their leader, Osama bin Laden. They statement said that the assassination of bin Laden will only increase morale among loyal Taliban followers, who are fighting US and NATO forces in Afghanistan.

The statement criticized those who believed bin Laden's death would be a blow to the organization, and added that anyone who felt that way did not understand global jihad.
