Israeli tennis star Shahar Peer, ranked 77 in the world, will face Monica Niculescu (60) of Romania in the first round of the Australian Open which begins on Monday in Melbourne.

Also in the women's draw, Israeli Julia Glushko (89) will face Lucie Safarova (27) of the Czech Republic.

On the men's side, Israeli Dudi Sela (67) will have to battle Jarkko Niemenin (39) of Finland to reach the second round of the tournament.
